Dr. Steele is the author of numerous ground-breaking works in the areas of social psychology and stereotype threat.  His most recent work, Whistling Vivaldi: How Stereotypes Affect Us and What We Can Do, received the following commentary from the Harvard Educational Review, “The findings presented in this book unearth the powerful and prevalent ways in which group identity affects us all and demonstrate the need to acknowledge this fact: we need to be “identity conscious” if we are going to improve race relations across our society.”  We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Steele to campus and hope you will be able to join the celebration!

Dr. Steele’s keynote address — “Whistling Vivaldi: How Stereotypes Affect Us and What We Can Do” — is scheduled from 4:00-6:00 p.m. in the EMU Ballroom.
